Yogyakarta is one of the best places in Indonesia to combine football with sightseeing. The Special Region has two Super League clubs, PSS Sleman and PSIM Yogyakarta, and their meeting is one of the fiercest local derbies in the country.
PSS play at Maguwoharjo Stadium in Sleman, north-east of the city near the old Adisucipto airport, and are known for their choreographed home end. PSIM play their 2026-27 home games at Sultan Agung Stadium in Bantul, south of the city, because their traditional Mandala Krida ground does not meet league requirements.
With Borobudur, Prambanan and the old city all close by, a matchday in Yogyakarta makes an easy addition to a Java itinerary.
