PSM Makassar was founded in 1915, making it one of the oldest clubs in Asia. Known as 'Juku Eja' (Red Fish) and 'Ayam Jantan dari Timur' (Roosters of the East), the club has been national champion in 1999-2000 and 2022-23 and carries the pride of eastern Indonesia.

With no suitable stadium available in Makassar, PSM play their 2026-27 home games at Gelora B.J. Habibie Stadium in Parepare, about 150 km north of the city. Allow three to four hours by road from Makassar and consider staying overnight.

Tips for visitors

  • Don't book a Makassar hotel expecting a short trip: home games are about 150 km away in Parepare, so stay in Parepare overnight or arrange a driver for the return.
  • Ticket quotas at the 8,500-seat stadium are often cut (sometimes to 3,000-5,000), and sales are online only, so buy as soon as tickets go on sale.
  • Wear red: the club regularly asks fans to 'paint the stadium red'.

Fixtures, venues and ticket rules change often. Check the club's official channels before you travel.
