Persebaya is one of the founding giants of Indonesian football, formed in 1927 and twice champions of the professional era (1996-97 and 2004) after four Perserikatan titles. The club's green-clad supporters, the Bonek, are among the most famous in the country, and the rivalry with Arema of Malang is one of Asia's fiercest.

Home games are at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Benowo, on Surabaya's far western edge. Persebaya runs one of the better ticketing systems in the league, with online sales and wristband collection at club stores before the match.

Tips for visitors

  • Never wear blue or Arema colours. The Persebaya v Arema rivalry is among Indonesia's fiercest and away fans are banned.
  • Buy your e-voucher on persebaya.id and swap it for a wristband at a Persebaya Store before match day. Tickets cannot be exchanged at the stadium.
  • GBT is far from central Surabaya and traffic on Jl. Jawar is heavy on match nights. Leave early, and arrange your return ride in advance.

Fixtures, venues and ticket rules change often. Check the club's official channels before you travel.
